A Report about My Partner
Her name is Huichen. She came from Taiwan. She told me that she likes to exercise with her husband every morning in a park near her house and come back home to eat breakfast. She does some chores in the house.
Her hobby is reading Chinese books, especially history books. Her most memorable event is when she climbed to the top of a high mountain in Taiwan and looked down feeling very scared. She told me that she wants to pass an interview to become a U.S. citizen.
She usually follows the news on TV. She wants to watch about her country and what happened at there. She believes her husband. When she wants to get a clear view of things talked about in the news, she always discusses with her husband. I don’t always believe news either. I think that some news is just speculation only and I am not sure whether it has happened or not.
Thank you for reading my report.

Interview with My Partner
Her interests also include world news, national news, and health news…etc. Besides, she told me that looking at fashion news every day is very important to her. She often goes to www.vogue.com because this website talks about fashion topics. She often reads magazines such as Vogue and EllE, which I think also regard to the same things.
When I ask her “who do you believe”, she said that she chooses to believe herself, because one thing always has two sides and people usually cannot objectively comment on both sides. I agree with her.

My Interview
I interviewed my partner, whose name is Hisking Tien. He is an old man. He is 78 years old. He is from Taiwan. He likes using computer to watch news. His dream is to live for a long time. I hope he will. He and his daughter live in the U.S.A. but they don’t live together.
In my interview, he said he always follows the news, headlines or top stories, and weather forecast. He looks news on the internet using Google and listens to NPR before he goes to sleep every night. He likes to watch weather forecast, because he wants to know about everyday weather. He doesn’t like entertainment, and he thinks that is what young people are interested in. He never watches CNN news, because he doesn’t understand English very well. If important and serious news are discussed in the news, he believes himself. He doesn’t believe everything that he sees, and he only believes his own feelings.

My Interview
She sometimes follows the news. Her interests include world news, local news, national news, headlines or top stories, entertainment, health, technology, education, business, traffic report, and weather forecast. Everyday she gets news from T.V, radio, and internet. Here are some sources she likes: CNN News, ABC News, Bloomberg News, and WWW.Yahoo.com. She believes CNN News, and she thinks they tell the truth.
She also thinks her perspectives are being presented and sometimes she shares news with her husband and her father in-law.

My Interview
She lives with her husband. They sometimes follow the news on TV about three times a week. She is interested in World news (especially political news), and local news (especially crime), and entertainment. Her favorite channel is CNN news, and she also likes to go on internet at www.yahoo.com too.
She just believes in herself. She told me “when I see some news about Viet Nam here, especially politics, I believe half and half”. Because almost people in US follow The Democratic Republic of Vietnam; but in fact in Viet Nam, the people follow The Socialist Republic of Vietnam. They have different political system, and only positive things not negative ones about themselves are talked about. So, she often discusses news with many people and follows many channels. I think she is right, because I am the same.

How Do You Stay Informed?
Some of our classmates follow the news more than others and we are interested in many things. For example, Hoa likes to know about local news in our community. Jingsen is interested in world news. Hien reads the Vietnamese newspaper to find jobs or look for an apartment. Behzad from Iran loves cars, so he looks for news about cars in magazines.
Where do we look for news? Yan Ling read the Chinese newspaper and goes online to Chinese news sites. Some Vietnamese students read the weekly Vietnamese paper called Thang Mo. Orawan, who is from Thailand reads the Milpitas Post. The TV news program mentioned most was CNN. Behzad likes to watch CNN for news about his country and world news. Dat enjoys going to the Voice of America website (VOA) to practice his English and read news in Special English.

My friend Ping Wang
The most memorable event in her life is the day when her sons were born. When I asked her “How about your wedding?”, she said “I can forgot the day I got married but I never forget the day my sons were born.” She is a great mother!
There are five people in her family: Ping Wang, her husband, two sons and a daughter. They have lived in a small house together for a long time. Her dream is to buy a big house for her family and to help her daughter become a famous musician.
Every morning, she checks the news from computer at www.epochtimes.com and sometimes from some Chinese newspapers or through her friends. She follows the news and she is interested in local news and world news. She didn’t believe anything about news when she lived in China, and now in America she can believe what the news says and sometimes she still doesn’t believe. She would rather believe in herself.
She thinks her perspectives are being presented. Sometimes in some Chinese news, she doesn’t agree with some things so she comments in Chinese but she never gives feedback to world news because she thinks that maybe she can’t understand the news clearly, and she might misunderstand it. Another reason is that her English is poor to write and explain her ideas.

He wants to know news but he doesn’t follow the news that often. He likes sports, for example, basketball, soccer and swimming. So sports news is his favorite. And sometimes she looks at world news, entertainment, and technology, which is not only on Internet and TV but also in magazines and through friends. But he doesn’t believe everything he sees, and he said that he only believed himself.
He is good at designing .He got a scholarship for computer programming when he was 20 years old in VN. But he didn’t want to be a computer engineer. He dreams of winning the lottery in the future so that he will have a lot of money.
I can’t do anything for him, so I only give my best wishes for him. Hope his dream will come true.
